Lawrence A. Lavery, DPM, MPH

Dr. Lavery is a professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is the Director of Research in the Department of Plastic Surgery and the Director of the Wound Healing Program at Parkland Hospital.
Dr. Lavery previously served as medical director” for XL Health, a Diabetes Disease Management Company with Headquarters in Baltimore, MD. XL Health was awarded two statewide disease management demonstrations projects from CMS for the states of Texas and Tennessee. In addition, the company executed disease management programs with Pacificare and Humana in South Texas and with HIPP in New York City.
Dr. Lavery was a founder of Diabetica Solutions, a medical device company that developed products focused on reducing diabetic foot complications.
Dr. Lavery’s research group has received over $10 million in funding from the National Institute of Health, AHRQ, American Diabetes Association, Veterans Administration, American College of Foot, and Ankle Surgeons, the American Podiatric Medical Association and private industry to study the prevention and treatment of diabetic foot complications. He has 200 peer reviewed publications and has edited two texts and numerous chapters on diabetic foot pathology.
